Eulogies Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt able to express about his profound loss.
"Enough time has gone by that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the killings, public figures offered varying reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making controversial claims that were broadly criticized by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and implied they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an adviser should have acted when the impulse to speak on the passing was made.
