Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed title that players explored was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in violence and madness with the same enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, socially charged narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose projects have exemplified all of those qualities.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by having a new location and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always examining the essence of humanity through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our common bold, daring style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
