Reports indicate that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.

A Major Return to Panem

Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their cameos will take the form of a flash-forward sequence, as the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.

This represents the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

Exploring the New Story

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.

The Storyline and Fresh Faces

The film's narrative are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several prominent actors in pivotal roles:

• Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
