Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
